Target Tap — Free Timing and Anticipation Test
Catch the target as it crosses the zone.
- Reflex
- 3 min
- Medium
Where the Reaction Time test measures how fast you respond to a surprise, Target Tap measures something different: how well you predict. The target is visible the whole way, so the skill is projecting where it will be a fraction of a second from now and committing early enough to land the tap.
Play Target TapHow it works
1A target slides toward the marked zone.
2Tap while it is inside. Centre beats edge.
3Each level speeds up and narrows the zone.
How to play
- 1
Watch the target move
A marker slides across the track at a constant speed toward a marked hit zone.
- 2
Tap as it passes
Tap when the target is inside the zone. Closer to the centre scores better than a scraped edge.
- 3
Levels get faster
Each level increases speed and narrows the zone. Eighteen levels in total.
What it trains
Cut the delay between seeing and acting. Coincidence-anticipation timing is a distinct motor skill from simple reaction: it improves with practice where raw reaction speed largely does not.

Questions
Why do I keep tapping late?
Because you are reacting instead of anticipating. Reacting costs you your full ~250ms reaction time. Commit to the tap before the target reaches the zone.
Does this train the same thing as the reaction test?
No. Reaction time is mostly fixed; anticipation timing is a learned motor skill and responds well to practice.
What level is good?
Level 8–10 is a solid result. Past 14 the zone is narrow enough that consistency matters more than speed.
